My Visit to the U.S. Holocaust Museum24th April 2017

Today, April 24, 2017 is Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. It translates to “Remembrance Day for the Holocaust and Heroism.” Today, we remember the lives of the six million Jewish people who died in the Holocaust in the years leading up to and during World War II.

I remember this day when I was in Israel as a college sophomore in 1986. On this day, at 10 a.m., an air-raid siren sounds throughout the land and everything comes to a standstill for 2 minutes of solemn reflection. I was on a bus at the time. Everyone stops. Cars stop on the highway; people stop on the street.

On March 28, 2017, after attending AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) in Washington, D.C., my husband and I visited the United States Holocaust Museum.
